PROGRAMS
Project description:

In order to achieve the above objectives, PSA intends to implement a series of activities to provide visibility for the soccer academy and ultimately, create partnerships for sponsorship with various local and international companies. PSA also intends to work with the government of Uganda to leverage support and recognition for its activities.

The first activity for which PSA intends to acquire sponsorship is the momentous visit to Uganda of English Premier League soccer greats Rio and Anton Ferdinand in June 2007. The duo who play for Manchester United and West ham respectively, have a massive following in Uganda and worldwide, they have expressed a willingness to support PSA in the establishment of a football academy in Uganda. Their visit is intended to spearhead the fundraising drive to secure funding for a Soccer Academy and other PSA activities. Their visit is a public relations coup for any sponsor, and PSA is seeking partnerships with local companies to capitalize on this visit and share its priceless benefits.

Owing to the popularity of the premier League in Uganda and in particular these players, their visit is eagerly awaited by tens of thousands of fans and will be a fun filled affair for many.

Its guaranteed that fans will line up by the roadside from Entebbe airport to Kampala upon their arrival and will move with the car carrying these stars in a procession like convoy all the way, a distance of about 36km.

Its also guaranteed that every function these players will attend will be the most sought after "place to be" in terms of attendance, support and following.

We'd therefore like to match this kind of activities with a sponsorship package to match.

During the months leading to the 3-day visit, PSA will work with corporate sponsors to manage and administrate issues pertaining to the itineraries of the sports personalities, including travel arrangements, schedules and hospitality such as accommodation and local travel. PSA will work with a leading sponsor and an event management agency to coordinate and implement events and logistics associated with the proposed 3-day itinerary. PSA and its local partners will plan for media relations and high-impact pre-, during and post event publicity (including above and below the line advertising), event management including booking and hiring of venues, communications and coordination of travel, protocol regarding invitation lists, hospitality and hotel booking for sports personalities, as well as organization of local suppliers regarding in-country transportation, photography and videography, catering at events amongst others. Once funding arrangements are concluded, PSA will collaborate fully with its partners and sponsors to ensure the success of the visit in achieving agreed objectives.

The visit of the premiership players is estimated to cost about $82,750 [148 million shillings] but we expect it to raise much more.

We already have arrangements in pace that will ensure that this visit is covered by the biggest sports channel in Africa - Supersport. PSA has already featured heavily on this channel an will continue with a little more intensity during and after the visit.
