Millwall v Proline

For years, there has always been outstanding talent in Uganda. But a prevalent lack of nurturing has often stagnated or failed careers that promised so much in the youthful years.

Mujib Kasule’s brainchild Proline Soccer Academy intends to change that. And at Millwall today afternoon, the team will face a test of its credentials against the League One’s youth side.

Millwall, the first opponent in the Academy’s four match tour that ends early next month, should ideally provide a malleable challenge because of its standing as division one opposition unlike the other Premiership youth sides ahead.

The match will be played just 20 miles from the Antigallican Hotel in Charlton where the squad is staying. “We have been here since Saturday and trained quite well. One or two players have light knocks but on the whole, the boys are in good shape, ready to show what Uganda can do,” Kasule said yesterday.

Coach Baker Mbowa is no doubt Proline will leave an impression.

“Mental preparation goes a long way in shaping footballers. We have tried to instil that virtue alongside tactical restraint,” said Mbowa.

Proline are in the Kakungulu Cup semi-finals.
