PROLINE SUPER GIRLS

Since the official launch of Proline as a Soccer Academy in August 2006 by its patron Julian Ferdinand, Girls have been part and parcel of the Lugogo based Academy. But the consistence and determination shown by the two senior sisters at Proline is worthy a mention in its own sense.

Nakiganda Nuulu "Carol" 17 and Nagadya Prossy 15 are siblings. They and brother Ssekitende Edward 13 live in Kampala and come from the family of Mr. John Matovu of the most successful live band in Uganda's history (Afrigo Band). Carol is studying a certificate course at YMCA Wandegeya while Prossy is still a secondary school student.

Though there are many other girls at the Academy, most notables being Maria and Martha of U-8, Jacinta Fernandes Brough of U-10 and Yvonne 16, who trains with the U-14 boys among others, but Carol and Prossy are exceptional. Apart from being role model to other junior girls at Proline, on several occasions I have heard boys comment about the challenge they get from those girls on and off the pitch. On record, Mulika Marvin U-14's most valuable striker confessed on his debut training at Proline that he had it in mind that Carol and Prossy were only merry - making on the pitch until he was beaten by Prossy in a tackle and watched them (girls) take on boys with a lot of ease.

Nakiganda Nuulu "Carol" and Nagadya Prossy's presence, inspiration, discipline and public image they earn for the Academy qualify them to be referred to as "Proline super girls" in due course. Their mother Mukyala Matovu says she is very grateful for the Academy which has instilled discipline, time management and sense of responsibility which they have carried on back home and school.

Proline Super girls trainers Ssenyondo Muhammoud and Mutenda say the girls have improved greatly due to their positivity in training. Muhammoud says more especially Prossy who undertakes all the drills done by the boys without self pitty."If she keeps the habit of working hard she will play football all the way", Muhammoud comments.

In their own words they say do not have a specific inspiration to football because they grew up engaging in almost all sports. Do not have a team they fancy that much and in their free time do not watch soccer like other footballers but go to church for choir practice and do household chores. Also say that at first were playing football for fun but since joining Proline Soccer Academy (PSA) they have realized that football is a Profession and if taken seriously one can earn a living regardless of the sex. Prossy says now she has started dreaming of winning honors for the national team (She Cranes) and go ahead to playing in different European Teams.
