PROLINE BEAT POLICE FC TO ENTER HISTORY BOOKS.
Proline soccer Academy on Saturday 5, April 2008 made history by being the first Academy to eliminate a super division club out of Uganda's prestigious Kakungulu cup. Proline edged out current league leaders Police FC in penalty shoot out after fulltime ending at (0-0) score line to reach the first semi- finals of this year's edition of Kakungulu Cup at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
Though Police FC had a slight edge in terms of ball possession, more especially in first half. Proline winning (3-4) on penalties was a fortune which favored the deserved winners, because Proline caused much threat at Police goal in both halves than their seniors. Bigala Denis (Maco) converted the winning penalty while second round hero Mayanja Bulukhan Ssebugwawo (Bulu) saved one to deny former CECAFA champions a salute to the Semis.
To reach the quarter finals, Proline beat Standard High School, Zana (0-1) while the law "Law and Order keepers" (Police FC) beat FUFA president's team Bunamwaya FC at Kitende. Meanwhile the Police game was Proline fourth consecutive away game in this competition, though at first looked like it was Proline's chance to host a Team (Police FC) they share the same home group (Namboole).
On the same note, after Saturday's quarter final game, Police FC will now turn their butoons to holding onto winning the local league which they are apparently leading by two points ahead of record champions SC. Villa. But with Proline, the U-18 boys are concentrating on the England tour on which their Director Mujib Kasule warned those who have the idea of disappearing from the camp come 19th April, 2008.
Mujib who though still stands on the 500,000 (Uganda) shillings promise he offered to the boys if they reach the semi-finals of Kakungulu on their debut participation said," After landing in England on the 19th and one player is missing for 15 minutes at the airport, next day 20th the whole group will be on the plane back to Kampala. And that it will be the end of their lives at Proline. Proline's U-18 Team will stay in England for a period of two weeks and they will all be back to Kampala whether one has gone through or not. "Those who would have made it, still have to come back to process their details before signing for any interested clubs, in Europe", Said Mujib.
