EXCITEMENT IS BUILDING UP AHEAD OF THE PROLINE ACADEMY'S MAIDEN TOUR OF ENGLAND THIS MONTH.:
BY PHILLIP CORRY
"I can tell you that the most influential soccer agent Pini Zahavi, who represents Rio Ferdinand and 13 other scouts across Europe will be monitoring our tour in England," the academy director Mujib Kasule said.
"Zahavi has invited other soccer scouts from Europe to watch Ugandan soccer talent."
Proline Academy will tour with an U-18 side made up of eighteen players and four officials and will play their first game with Millwall reserves on April 23. Then they will play Manchester United's U-18 team and three days later will play Portsmouth U-18. They will then wrap up their tour with a game against West Ham's academy team on May 3 in East London.
However before their friendlies, the Ugandan youngsters will play a game with London Cranes (a team made up of former Ugandan soccer players) on April 19.
"Rio Ferdinand's tour last year to Uganda was given massive coverage in the English media and it has made such a massive impact in England," Kasule said.
"This alone is a big breakthrough for the academy and the country it also gives an opportunity for our youngster's to highlight their skills and talent."
Proline is riding high in confidence after registering one of the biggest upsets in Kakungulu Cup history which saw them eject league leaders Police FC on spot-kicks.
