MAN U’S FERDINAND LOOKING FORWARD TO PROLINE VISIT:

ENGLAND defender Rio Ferdinand is involved in an intriguing chase for the Premiership and Champions League double.

But the Manchester United defender is similarly looking forward to visit of Proline Soccer Academy next month. The player has notified his teammates like Wayne Rooney and Anderson about the impending trip of Proline kids, who impressed him on his visit to Kampala last year.

"He has called a few scouts, some of his mates and players on the trip. He is proud of the potential in the children," academy director Mujib Kasule told Daily Monitor.

"He loved the reception he got in Kampala and wants the kids to get a similar one in England as they seek to enhance their opportunities of developing successful careers," Kasule added.

Ferdinand's father and also academy patron Julian, a frequent visitor of the academy, has also expressed his admiration of Proline's amazing run in the Kakungulu Cup after the team booked a quarter final date with league leaders Police.

"He is excited and there is a chance he (Julian) may travel to watch the quarter final," Kasule stated. Proline will play against the reserve sides of Manchester United, Portsmouth and League One outfit Milwall.

The team has stepped up preparations for the upcoming tour by doing double practice sessions every day. Kasule revealed that a team of eighteen players and four officials leaves for England on 19th April, although sponsorship for the trip is yet to be secured.

This week, the academy received a three-year sponsorship package from sports equipment manufacturers Nike $600,000 (Shs. 990m).
