"THAT BOY, THAT BOY"

It all started with Julian Ferdinand on seeing "That boy" taking on and unlocking Ntinda FC's defence. "That little boy plays wonderful football. What is his name? How old is he?" Julian wondered. Talks have gone on and on about "That boy". Foot ball lovers say he plays like Ryan Giggs, Christiano Ronaldo, Arjen Robben, Ricardo Quaresma, Frank Ribery, Aaron Lenon, while some comment that he reminds them of legendaries like Mark Overmars, Fernando Redondo, Louis Figo, Tigan Babangida as well as local heroes like the traditional Obua Family, Sula Kato, Phillip Ssozi, the boy's former coach Haruna Mawa, the list is endless.

"That boy" is the 13 year old, Lubega Moses "Kamokya" (Kampala) on 27th October, 1994 to Hajji Twaha Sseguya and Hadija Nassuna. Kamokya who finished his primary leaving courses at Kamokya Islamic Primary School is currently at Hana Mixed School Nsangi. Lubega Moses is commonly referred to as "Kamokya" because it's his place of birth and due to his streets-match lifestyle, makes him the most known Player at Proline Soccer Academy training ground- Lugogo.

Coaches and Trainers who have at least handled him for a month bare witness that Kamokya is one player with unlimited talent and skills. He takes on and beats players you least expect him to with his pace and dribbles. He does not stop there, but also threatens his Markers with verbal artillery which puts them on tension, thus helping his side at the end of the day.

The Academy Director, Mujib Kasule refers to him as "one player who can both change a game and win it in that sense".

Clubs like Express FC who were unlucky to face him at his best, whenever they talk about him keep referring to him as "A pain in the neck". One half-back from Ntinda was heard joking with his fellows who laughed at him when Kamokya left him on the ground after the match."Ako akana kalinga mpewo. Bwe kakutukako ogenda okulowoza okukanyeza nga kayisewo dda". Meaning "That kid is like wind, when he reaches you, before you think of going of into a tackle, he is already gone".

One time I was chatting with Mr.Mwebe Willy at Kira where the U-18 do their weekly training from. I happened to comment about Kamokya's form, Mwebe told me that I did bad to miss the previous training. He said, Lubega Moses "Kamokya" put a certain man's job at risk with his superb football. "An identified gentleman was rushing to office to work already complaining to his friend on phone that his late, but when looked at Kamokya the man became static and did not go no where until training was over",Mwebe said. He added that, From that moment Mwebe respects Kamokya because if he can keep such a respectable gentleman here for an entire morning, who is he not to bow down.

In his own words, Kamokya says, "I did not know that I was that good until Coach Haruna Mawa who picked me fromU-14 to join U-17 started naming me on his starting line-up". Kamokya, an admirer of Christiano Ronaldo dreams of playing professional football in Europe and playing for the National team. He prefers playing under Coach Arsene Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson who he says they give every player an equal opportunity to show case ones football.

About his U-18 Teammates, Kamokya says they are very competitive and respectful and but for those few who doubt his skills has occasionally beaten them. So he feels he can fight for places with them though they are his Seniors. "Helping the needy and under privileged with talent like our Director (Mujib) does, with the big moneys that footballers earn in Europe is what inspires me, not a specific footballer as many think", said Kamokya. He went on record to note that his major weakness is power but not height, because he is still growing up. " I want to go on and win honors like Uganda's Best Player ever, best in Africa and the world as well. I want to be remembered as a Player from Africa who played football for Africa but not for himself", added Kamokya. So ladies and Gentlemen, that is Lubega Moses "Kamokya" for you. Thanks
